Globalizations: A Threat To The Native Culture
Globalization what it means etymologically is not what is practiced in this world today. Globalization means the diffusion of practices, expansions of relations across continents, organization of social life on a global scale, and growth of a shared global consciousness (Frank J. Lechner). But it is not what it is to be. We know now and which is the truth, that globalization is not only sharing of ideas and practices neither westernization fully which we claim nowadays but this word has applied to us as a platform to show up the power.
Today the world which we are living has its own complexity of meaning of understanding globalization. The values and culture which are practiced presently in the name of globalization in the world of ours is all the culture of the elite countries. We the so called third world countries have become the place of experiment of their beliefs. We are being hypnotized or persuaded.
The concept that we are hanging in our mind about globalization is to become modern and to become modern is to do the activities what Europeans or Americans do. Our mind have been swayed or motivated towards their pursuit and commotions. It is not bad to know others culture, rather it makes us more informative, in this information technological world, but becoming use to it is threat to your own native culture. It’s not always blaming the Europeans or Americans, but the actual blunder is done by us, by hitting the hammer in our own heads, that is excluding or taking for granted of our own culture.
Nowadays, we are talking about tourism and tourism advancement in our country. Why tourists are attracted to our native land? This question may be relevant in understanding the importance of our culture. It’s not the buildings and houses which we are constructing in an unmanaged way, that attracts them but rather they visit our motherland to view the natural beauty and cultural heritages. They aren’t attracted by pizza huts or KFC’s, but come here to sit as we sit and eat what we eat where sky is our roof and floor is our motherland.
They respect our culture and we should also do the same but neglecting owns culture is not respecting the importance of others culture. It not only hampers our existence but makes our nationalism into question. Yes, we lack the importance of our importance and know our culture from the vision the foreigner see through their perspective.
